Elaine Lowe has been providing individual and family support to individuals with brain and spinal cord injuries since 1992. After a brain injury the family and the survivor experience changes, fears, and often a complete disruption of the family system. Elaine is experienced in providing assessments and treatment to individuals, families and groups utilizing a variety of modalities, including cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy, mindfulness therapy, and relaxation training. Her training includes case management and advocacy on behalf of the injured person and their family.

Her experience includes assessment and treatment for depression, anxiety, grief, and substance abuse.  Psychotherapy counselling addresses numerous aspects of these life changes which occur after a traumatic accident such as:

  • Changes in mood, thought and behaviour
  • Intrusive thoughts
  • Difficulty in expressing emotion
  • Coping with stress
  • Chronic pain
  • Blame
  • Changes in relationships
  • Loss of employment and sense of worth
  • Changes to the marital relationship
  • Financial worry

Elaine has worked as an advocate, educator and professional in both the profit and non-profit realms and recognizes the importance of utilizing funding sources to achieve the most timely and effective results. Treatment is offered to men and women, adults and teens to support healing and reduce stress.

Counselling is also available by telephone and Skype as appropriate and necessary.
